This was my first attempt at making a Doom map after seeing a tutorial in my Youtube reccomendations.



For a very first attempt at a Doom level I honestly think I did a pretty good job all things considered.


I thought I did a good enough job I set my sights on making a full campaign of like ten maps. I never ended up making it

the full ten maps because I started to overthink things and making the maps far too big but I did learn quite a lot on the way.




This was the second map for the campaign I made, I was obsessed with Resident Evil Village and tried to make it look like the castle and village below lol.

I made way too much use of 3D floors and polyobjects for the doors and castle which made it almost

impossible to work on in the editor and got quite a bit over my head on this one. I learened my lesson for the next map. This level contained a secret exit to

an SCP themed level that I won't spoil 😉




This is a screenshot of the fourth map which I am most proud of. It's suppose to be some sort

of resort with a movie theater and pool. Not much else to say other than the theater curtains can be raised and a funny video plays from the projector.





This is a screenshot from my final map I never finished for the map pack, the idea was you went through these teleporters one at a time and did some sort of

objective then got a key to open the door.


Originally I burnt myself out because I felt like I was forcing myself to make maps over and over again but going through the maps to get screenshots

for this page I legit think I was cooking with some of these and now I kinda wanna clean them up and publish them as a small level pack. If I do that I need to make

sure I don't scope creep myself to failure like usual lmao.

For Christmas back in 2022 I decided to make a small doom campaign that forced me to learn more GZDoom features in specific ways.

I began with the hub world that was just the beginning room along with a hallway that lead to "Week 1" of the hack, I had to learn how to set

up the hub using Slade 3 and I think hubs are really neat.

With week 1, I wanted to try simple rotating poly object interactive portals. No real reason to do this I just thought it looked cool.

Along with poly objects, I learned how to import audio and use it for ambience for the waterfall and cave. Even more than that, I

made a script to teleport the player back to safety when they fall into a hole.

Week 2 was when things started to really heat up complexity wise. I really leaned into the polyobject thing for this one and wanted a whole

commandable train that moves along a track to the other side of a map where you would just exit the level. It uses portals to make the inside

of the train and theres a switch at the front to make it move. I am very proud of the outcome and tbh I don't think i could do it again.

Week 3 I kinda just went crazy with it, I won't spoil too much but I went to grab screenshots for this page just now and I legit don't remeber doing most of this.

I just need you guys to see this gif and it may explain everything (hopefully)

The Christmas Hack Remastered

Currently underway!!!


Last year I made some new years resolutions and one of them was to actually get a Doom mappack campaign thing out, I chose to remake the christmas hack

because I think I had the best chance of actually being able to do that.

The goal with the remastered is to use what I learned making the failed liminal map and other maps and make the original Christmas Hack

bigger in every way, and actually maybe fix week 4. Additionally, I am doing the one thing I was upset I couldn't figure out in the oiriginal: collecting Maxwell cats!!!!



Collecting these cats will let you enter new areas (maybe, maybe it will just be for fun idk lol)



Right now I'm working on making the hub way bigger and interesting to walk around, then I gotta make the levels themselves better but I don't think I have to do too much

in that department, except level 4 lol stupid level.

I'm gonna be real with you I think of this map on daily and get upset how I never finished it.

I suppose I will tell you a story of scope creep. After finishing the Christmas Hack I wanted to try something a little more relaxed

and something to just step up my mapping and ACS skills. I have quite the soft spot for those liminal spaces, no matter how cringe that makes me. Big open areas that are a

bit surreal is what I'm going for here, at least at first anyway lol.
